East Atlanta
The Village
Situated along the axis of Glenwood and Flat Shoals, East Atlanta Village provides convenient creature comforts for its immediate neighbors and draws in crowds from across metro Atlanta on nights and weekends. Anchored by institutions like the EARL (East Atlanta Restaurant & Lounge), Mary’s (named the best gay bar in the country several years ago), and Joe’s (no Starbucks in this village), and featuring an eclectic array of independent shops, eateries, and services (you can get your eyebrows threaded, your feet massaged, and a custom t-shirt made all on the same block, then run across the street for a banh mi), EAV is perfect for an afternoon stroll or the place to make a whole night of it. Interesting artwork—the metallic dragon and a huge mural of a fox and crocodile doing battle being our favorites—adds character and embodies the creative spirit of the neighborhood.
