Federal Hill & Riverside

There's more to Federal Hill -- or Fed Hill, as the locals call it -- than meets the eye. While it's known for its college crowd, Fed Hill is way more than a collection of bars. There are plenty of tasty bites, crafty cocktails, creative spaces, and fascinating history to be found among the brickfront rowhomes and alleyways of this neighborhood on the harbor.

From the moment you settle in at the bar or the lounge in the back, the owner, Jeff, and his crew make you feel like you're hanging out with them in their living room. With a creative cocktail list crafted by a master bartender (Shaun, who also makes his own mixers and juices) and taps that rotate weekly and feature local brews, there's something here for everyone. Enjoy complimentary rosemary olive oil popcorn and a variety of liquorice while you wait for your sandwich (try the Bang Mi—the espresso-infused BBQ pulled pork is fantastic) or one of the not-so-small plates. Don't miss Monday movie nights, and if you time it right, the owner may even treat you to free soft-serve from a local ice cream truck.
