Cobble Hill & Boerum Hill
This semi-suburban oasis is popular with young families and filled with mom-and-pop shops: a “more grown-up” part of the Brooklyn borough. That’s not to say it has no edge; amongst the cheesemongers and competing Italian bakeries are plenty of stylish shops, trendy bars, and restaurants lauded by true foodies. Well-maintained brownstones and carriage houses date back to the 1800’s and offer an instant time warp into tree-lined, classic New York.

Eka Dara, owner and founder of the Edelweiss Floral Atelier couldn’t name a favorite flower when asked. Each serves its own purpose, and each petal’s organic shapes are thoughtfully chosen for her bespoke arrangements. Her plants are sourced from Holland, Africa, South America, and more. Eka believes that she cannot make Mother Nature more attractive, but that she can capture and showcase the individual beauty of each bud. The company name comes from the strong and beautiful Edelweiss flower, a flora native to higher altitudes and often associated with the Swiss Alps. From housewarming gifts to wedding suites to sympathy bouquets, the shop creates simple yet stunning vignettes.
