Gowanus

Gowanus is best known for the canal that flows through its heart, which happens to be one of the most polluted waterways in the world. The neighborhood around it, however, is one of the most vital and up-and-coming neighborhoods in Brooklyn: a magnet for artists, delicious food, and creative businesses.

With thirty affordable beers on tap and dozens more in bottles and cans, this cozy joint has variety enough for even the most blasé drinker. The Narragansett is appropriately priced ($3) and more exotic offerings like Aecht Schlenkerla distilled smokebeer don't break the bank either. The staff is friendly, the crowd is relaxed, and the place stays open until 4 am every night of the year. We enjoy playing their pinball machines while tipping back a brew we never heard of.
