South Slope

South Slope is a quiet, laid-back, mashup of a Brooklyn neighborhood. Historical landmarks and treelined streets of row houses coexist with stretches of rugged industrial buildings. Nestled between the larger, bustling Park Slope and Sunset Park hoods, the more relaxed South Slope has come into its own in recent years as a destination for quality bars, restaurants and cafes.

There was this one late summer Saturday where the sunny afternoon quickly turned into a hard, humid downpour. Luckily, we had Sidecar to take refuge in and wait out the storm—a perfect spot to eat, drink and linger. Sporting a vintage ‘For All Pain’ ghost sign that fills the wall with big type, the top notch cocktails deliver on that promise. Throw in the high-end comfort food (the fried chicken is not to be missed) and there’s really no need to rush. Sit and sip a spell.
