Bread & Beast
Hong Kong is a city with an appetite bigger than most, so it’s no surprise that the “artisanal sandwich movement” so commonplace in the west has begun to permeate the city. But Bread and Beast is far from “commonplace.” Opening its doors on Swatow Street in August 2014, the standout item has to be the Ngau Lam Wich—a clever play on beef brisket noodles. With housemade pickled daikon and carefully slow-roasted beef, the sandwich is a perfect pairing of East and West…kinda like Hong Kong in a bun.
