Downtown

Las Vegas was born here, and until a few years ago, some would say it died here as well. That all changed in 2010 when revitalization efforts helped transform the ghost town into a thriving urban core. Now it's home to a new crop of creative twenty and thirty-somethings who work hard by day and indulge in the food, drink, and live music offerings by night. One of Las Vegas' truly bikeable areas, downtown is a great place to go for a spin.

One of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas, the El Cortez has a storied history. The hotel was purchased by gangsters Bugsy Siegel and Meyer Lansky in 1945. While they still have yet to put in a pool, locals seem un-phased by the lack of swimming options given the casino’s philanthropic tendencies. They also have a pretty sweet karaoke lounge that can feel more like a time machine to Vintage Vegas on the right night.
