Welcome to Ljubljana, the tiny capital of Slovenia, conveniently placed between the Alps and the Mediterranean sea. It’s a humane city that's easy to get round as it has preserved its small-town friendliness and relaxed atmosphere while providing all the facilities of a modern capital. Best experienced on foot.

Fancy a nice walk through a proper forest in the middle of the city? Head to Rožnik hill. Start at Tivoli Park, from where multiple paths take you through the lush greenery. 30 minutes later the house of Ivan Cankar, the most famous Slovenian writer, and a restaurant await your empty belly at the top. There are many local and traditional dishes to choose from, but do not leave without a “flancat” - a very basic and incredibly tasty donut-like dessert.
