Bermondsey Street
Much of Bermondsey life centres around Bermondsey Street and the streets nearby. The area is full of unusual shops, art galleries, coffee shops and amazing restaurants. Not so long ago, visitors used to give Bermondsey a wide berth but now it’s undergone an urban renewal and boasts loft apartments and design studios. It’s a rich and colourful area where modern apartments sit next to social housing - the contrast just adds to the community atmosphere. Pleasure doesn’t come in a finer form than food and this area has foodie establishments in abundance and for artisan feasts to the eye it has the largest private art gallery in Europe, the White Cube Gallery. This varied area is fast becoming one of London’s most popular neighbourhoods.

Established by Peter Layton in 1976, the studio has a reputation as one of Europe’s leading glassmaking workshops. Peter himself, produces individual pieces of decorative glass in sculptural and functional forms. Each signed piece is free blown. Visitors will experience the head and magic of the ancient craft of glassblowing while watching a gather of molten glass evolve in to a thing of value and beauty.
