Silver Lake

Nestled within hills and only 10 minutes northwest of Downtown LA, Silver Lake has been known to nurture musicians, independent artists, and writers. The neighborhood is peppered with iconic architecture by mid-century modernists such as John Lautner, Rudolph Schindler and Richard Neutra. The reservoir, although currently being drained, is an oasis within the city for people and nature. Alongside the neighborhood staples, Sunset Boulevard continues to flourish as a springboard for new shops and cafés. Although it's just the tip of the iceberg (there's a different experience here for everyone), here's a roundup of some of our favorite spots.

Get well here. You'll find the walls lined with healthy snacks and loose bins of organic grains and granola. If you're the grab and go type, there's a fridge full their pre-pressed juice and other healthy drinks like coconut water, kombucha, guayaki and more. The best is to order a fresh, made-to-order smoothie from the counter. Our favorite is the coconut and kale smoothie or the açai bowl. We can't live on coffee alone!
