Brunswick
It may be an urban myth, but people like to say that Brunswick’s Sydney Rd is the most multicultural street in the southern hemisphere. That fact certainly seems to be true as you traipse along the ever bustling strip with its diverse collection of businesses. If you can’t find a shop that sells what you need along Sydney Rd, it probably doesn’t exist. Brunswick has a great vibe and has become a haven for all creative types. Chances are that behind any warehouse door, you’ll find a bunch of people doing something creative. The combination of industrial and residential zones in the one area has created a unique and productive hive of activity with many interesting spaces to explore. Travellers: go wander there.

At the very start of Sydney Rd, you’ll find a barber and record store run by a guy that obviously loves his job. And it’s not hard to see why, Paul spends his day chatting and serving up cuts of all kinds. If you need a haircut, or if you just want to chat to a Brunswick local, head here. If you need some new tunes, start here, and then continue your browsing around the corner at Paul and his partner Renae’s other store “Record Paradise”.
