East Village
The East Village has been many things: punk rock, hardcore, gangster, folk, anti-folk, Nuyorican, experimental, beat, post-modern, Warholian. It even hit Broadway in Rent. Today, developers are trying to move in but locals are fighting to hold their ground in Alphabet City.

When there is always a lunch line it’s a good sign. Sunny and Annie’s, a small Korean bodega, is home of the ‘PHO Real Sandwich’ and seems to always have a line of hungry East Villagers outside the store. The Pho sandwiches come with pho bread instead of noodles, lots of beef, cilantro, bean sprouts, avocado, and Sriracha sauce. If Pho isn’t your thing, they have a long list of delicious sandwich options to choose from.
