If you look beyond the throngs of suits and tourists, you’ll find hidden pearls of art, culture, and damn good coffee embedded in the often-overlooked underbelly of the Financial District. Satisfy any craving by grabbing lunch at one of the eager-to-serve pizzerias, diners, bakeries, sushi shops, or halal carts, abuzz with the midday rush. Top off the day with a drink at one of the many character-filled bars nestled in the boozy nightlife of FiDi.

The Elevated Acre at 55 Water Street has existed since the 70s but was raised to its current condition in 2005 by Rogers Marvel Architects. This elevated park offers a breezy lunch spot, waterfront views and a brief escape from the concrete jungle. The lush outdoor space is used as a venue for outdoor movies, weddings, and dance performances. On weekdays, the lawn is great for napping, picnicking, and seeking solitude among the flora-hidden benches. If you're feeling decadent, bag the sack lunch and enjoy the classic fare at its water-facing restaurant, Café 55.
