Prince Alfred Park
The perfect cure for a 'Slurry Hills' hangover.
Just off Campbell Street you'll find The Wild Rover - yes that's the right address, no we're not joking, yes that's actually the entrance to a bar. The Rover is a bar that welcomes you in as though you were a regular, despite being 90-95% sure you've never been there before. It's dimly lit, the right amount of brooding, and the kind of place you can imagine a Private Investigator would ask his clients to meet with him/her so as not to draw attention. The bartenders are (without exaggerating) probably the friendliest in Sydney, and they'll have a great new drink suggestion for you upon each visit. Best to head over on a Thursday or Friday night (when it's a little quieter) and snatch up one of the booths - mainly because you'll want to work your way through the entire cocktail list and this is a feat best attempted sitting down. Easily one of the best bars in Surry Hills and Sydney, but first you've got to find it.
