Candler Park & Little Five Points
The Candler Park neighborhood and the Little Five Points business district share both a common border along Moreland Avenue and an interconnected bohemian history. Before being swallowed by Atlanta, Candler Park was a town called Edgewood. Today, it still retains its charming small town vibe. It's a bit like Mayberry, if Andy Taylor biked to work and Aunt Bea baked "special" brownies. Historic craftsman bungalows and smiling young families dominate the landscape. The business district of Little Five Points is Candler Park's younger, counter-culture cousin. Although dotted with head shops and curious teenagers, newer businesses like the Wrecking Bar Brewpub are decidedly more grown-up in nature, a possible sign of changes to come.

Tucked away at the Southern border of Candler Park on industrial DeKalb Avenue lays one of ATL's most popular B-B-Q joints. Founded by native Texans Justin and Jonathan Fox, the brisket reigns supreme at Fox Bros. Giant smokers in the parking lot churn out tons of the stuff, plus pulled pork, ribs, and chicken to boot. Veggies can even make do — there's an excellent smoked Portobello sandwich smothered in melted pimento cheese. You won't feel healthy when you leave, but your taste buds will thank you.
