Poble Sec & Montjuïc

Poble Sec Montjuïc is an area of wonderful contrasts: On one hand there’s Poble Sec, a neighbourhood that feels like its own little town, where beer and tapas bars are nestled alongside beautiful local shops. On the other hand, there’s the mountain of Montjuïc, home to the Universal Expo of 1929 and the Olympic Games in 1992. Keep an eye out and you’ll find beautiful gardens perfect for sunbathing and a wealth of cultural activities.

Don’t expect high class design or luxury, the best thing about the Caseta del Migdia is its views over Barcelona port and Montjuïc Castle. The short menu, all homemade, is based on charcoal grilled dishes – that you start to get a whiff of as you walk up the path lined by a forest of pine trees. If you’re up the mountain, it’s a great idea to pass by and enjoy the last rays of sunlight while you have a drink on the terrace – or a crepe – and enjoy the live music. It’s a wonderful alternative for the balmy summer evenings, a place far from the hubbub of the city, underneath the stars.
