East Boston Greenway
The East Boston Greenway stretches from the waterfront, near Piers Park, and continues on towards Constitution Beach in Orient Heights. Its cycling and walking paths follow old rail lines that would transport cargo and freight from the waterfront inland towards towns north. Sections of the rail lines can still be found and a preserved freight car is on display at the Greenway's mouth. Murals are displayed at points along the path as well. The Greenway connects various parks in East Boston as well, including Piers Park, the Bremen Street Park, Memorial Park, and Constitution Beach.
Memorial Park holds a sports stadium, a soccer green, racing track, and tennis courts, and a baseball diamond. There are also walking paths and a playground.
The Bremen Street Park features multiple playgrounds, a dog park, bocce courts, a community garden, the newly renovated library, and the East Boston YMCA located in a renovated junction depot that once serviced the twins using the old freight lines.
