West End

To the left of both New and Old Town lies Edinburgh's West End. Originally a privately owned property, William Walker bought the estate in 1800 and began developing it into the hub it is now, with the appropriately named William St. and Walker St. running through the heart of it. This area sees residential, commercial, and office spaces all effortlessly co-existing, surrounded by some of the most picturesque architecture in the city. This quiet area has many independent shops and cafés frequented regularly by both locals and visitors alike. Just steps away from the heart of the city, the West End benefits from being close to the centre, while also enjoying a slightly calmer atmosphere. Come for a stroll through the beautiful neighbourhood streets, stay for a delicious meal in a local café, and prepare to be thoroughly charmed by Edinburgh's memorable West End.

Söderberg is known throughout the city as Edinburgh’s best offering of Swedish baking. The West End location is small but attractive, and perfect for a quick takeaway coffee-meticulously prepared by the helpful staff. You would be remiss to go to Söderberg and not get one of their buns, made fresh daily by the expert bakers who have perfected the art of Kanelbulle (cinnamon buns) and Kardemummabulle (cardamom buns).
