Miracle Mile

Once a dirt road, the 1.5-mile stretch of Wilshire Boulevard we call “Miracle Mile” is now home to iconic institutions like the LA County Museum of Art (LACMA), the La Brea Tar Pits and the Screen Actors Guild / AFTRA. Though it was originally designed as a commercial district catering to customers in cars, today a 15-minute walk takes you by Museum Row, bustling restaurants and Art Deco treasures. The development continues with major construction on museums, additional renovations and the Metro Purple Line Extension.

Sip honey wine and feast on simmered stews, sizzling fish, meats and seasoned vegetables that you eat with your hands using injera — a spongy, sourdough crepe made on a huge, round griddle. The veggie platter is one of our favorites — the colorful array of six veggie items creates a great balance of flavors. We love the ambience here and the food’s always fresh. In the market you can shop beautiful fabrics, bulk spices and popular Ethiopian music.
