Once a dirt road, the 1.5-mile stretch of Wilshire Boulevard we call “Miracle Mile” is now home to iconic institutions like the LA County Museum of Art (LACMA), the La Brea Tar Pits and the Screen Actors Guild / AFTRA. Though it was originally designed as a commercial district catering to customers in cars, today a 15-minute walk takes you by Museum Row, bustling restaurants and Art Deco treasures. The development continues with major construction on museums, additional renovations and the Metro Purple Line Extension.

Perched atop the stylish Hotel Wilshire, The Roof shares the air with city billboards and the occasional drifting balloon. Celeb chef, check. Great wine list, check. Mouth-watering cocktails brimming with fresh fruits, herbs and house-made ingredients, check. As evening approaches, cure your drunk munchies with a grilled cheese and cozy up at the crystal fire pit. Careful when you get up, though.
