South Kensington
For better or for worse, South Kensington is a neighborhood in transition. Fancy new developments are popping up everywhere, but like so many areas of Philadelphia, the true appeal of South Kensington comes from it’s rich history and amalgamation of cultures. Although South Kensington isn’t (yet) the tourist destination that neighboring Northern Liberties or Fishtown are touted as, it still has much to offer.

If you get all hot and bothered by walnut and brass, get ready to be really hot and bothered. While some of the furniture veers toward the campy kind of retro, there is a ton of drop-dead gorgeous mid-century stuff in here. Since it’s only open twice a month for just three hours, it can get really busy and, let’s just say, competitive. Get there early if you intend to leave with anything specific that you see on their website.
