Scott's Addition

Just call it Richmond’s Pied Piper. Scott’s Addition, the gritty industrial neighborhood buffeted by the Museum District to the south and Northside to the north, is in the midst of a super-charged renaissance, enticing businesses and individuals alike to live, work, and play within its vibrant urban confines. Buoyed by historic tax credits, an unbeatable central location, and constant buzz, the neighborhood boasts a dynamic fusion of grit and panache: casual joints and gourmet eateries, upscale boutiques and eclectic antique shops, sleek apartments housed in renovated warehouses, and a host of creative and industrial businesses. But our little secret is out, thanks to national recognition as a premiere destination courtesy of the five craft breweries, two cideries, a meadery, and a whiskey distillery within these 152 acres.

Housed in an old train car loading dock, this cider shop wants to know if you’re ready to #GetBuskey. Named after a slang term Ben Franklin is reported to have overheard young people using to describe being tipsy, Buskey Cider is one part historic nod and three parts modern interpretation of an up-and-coming alcoholic beverage. Sourcing all of its apples from Virginia, the growing venture brews a smattering of ciders, from a traditional dry cider to a dry-hopped cider to a line of rotating infused ciders like jalapeno lime, cherry lime, peach, or watermelon rosemary. Another sweet perk? Buskey offers a Nitro Cider, which uses nitrogen in place of carbon dioxide for a smoother, fuller mouthfeel. You can’t go wrong at this low-key tasting room.
