Traditionally, this neighborhood was seen as a bit secluded from the rest of the city because the river separated it. Nowadays, with good public transport connections and the famous Erasmus bridge, Rotterdam South is a divers and multicultural district where you can still catch a glimpse of the rich port history. It houses everything, from trendy bars to stunning architecture. Truly a rough diamond for those seeking the undiscovered.

The Maashaven is a port for grain shipments of the Rotterdam Granary Company since 1906. The Maassilo is the biggest and most productive factory in this harbour. In the 80s – the time of automation – it became clear that the Maassilo was difficult to automate and the building got a new purpose. Today, a big part of the complex is an event location with regular major festivals of various styles. Another part of the Maassilo has been redeveloped into shared business spaces for the creative industry.
