Nestled between Pioneer Square and the Central District, the Chinatown-International District or "The I.D." (as locals say) is a richly historic neighborhood with gems both culinary and cultural around just about every corner. Its three distinct neighborhoods of Chinatown, Japantown and Little Saigon comprise the center of Seattle's Asian American community. While many only venture in on weekends for late-night karaoke or recovery dim sum, it has a ton to offer all week long if you're curious enough to find it.

One of the most beloved establishments in the International District, Uwajimaya is a formidable Asian supermarket, bookstore, and gift store, all connected to a bustling food court. The meat department and huge Asian beer/wine selection are some highlights. We suggest the sashimi-grade fish at crazy-low (not sketchy) prices.
