West End & Stanley Park
Despite being one of the most densely populated neighbourhoods in North America, the West End is a quaint quarter and home to a culturally diverse and neighbourly community. It is bordered by Vancouver’s downtown core on one side, waterfronts on two, and crowned with the city’s largest and oldest park. With an abundance of restaurants, bars, and awe-inspiring outdoor spaces the West End is an obvious stop for visitors. Its charming architecture and seemingly endless tree-lined streets make it a prime choice for anyone looking to take up residence in Vancouver.

This place may be tiny, but what it loses in size it makes up for in quality. I love unsweet sweets; and this European dessert shop has come up with just the right proportions for a nice variety of delicious Romanian and Hungarian cakes. Everything is made in-house and from scratch. Their specialty is a Hungarian BBQed sweet bread aptly named the Chimney Cake (pictured); it’s fantastic! If you’re looking for something richer, try the Dobos cake or the Sunshine Romania (both pictured); they too are fantastic.
