Buckhead
OK Cafe
In physics, power is the rate of doing work. In America, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The dimension of power is energy divided by time. The dimension of power breakfast is the boundless energy of Atlanta’s real estate titans and dealmakers divided by the 2-hour period of 7 to 9 A.M. Burning a unit of CRE power in Atlanta in the presence of a Confederate flag and waitresses who still have to bobby pin those little hairpieces to their crowns releases enough energy to power the entire W. Paces Ferry corridor and the dreams of The Shops of Buckhead. That is the only explanation for why OK Cafe burst into flames in December 2014, as Atlanta was resuming its residential and office building boom in an exhilarating emergence from a crippling economic recession.
