Fort Point

Named for a colonial-era fort of cannons that once protected the harbor, Fort Point was first developed in the 1830s. 19th century buildings, once used for the manufacture & storage of trade goods like wool, became home to a community of artists known as the Fort Point Arts Community. A popular destination in recent years, this dynamic neighborhood is bursting with activity: architecture & design studios, converted warehouse condos, trendy eateries, art galleries and more, all while maintaining a distinctly Boston historic texture.

Luxury living—even if just for a night—doesn’t come cheap. That hefty price tag (guest rooms start around $500 a night) might just be worth it though when you step into this swanky, boutique hotel. Here, the lobby greets you with polished stone, warm wood and—sometimes outrageous, but always elegant—nautical inspiration. Take a trip up to the roof deck for cocktails and bites with a stunning view of Boston Harbor, but beware that this coveted spot can generate long lines of locals and tourists alike so be prepared to wait for a seat. If you have the luxury of staying in one of the guest rooms, you’ll find modern, understated features and floor-to-ceiling windows with city and harbor views.
