Founded in 1863 the Brooklyn Historical Society is dedicated to showcasing the vibrant 400-year history of Brooklyn. The main exhibit on the ground floor will be on view till 2018 and focuses on the initiatives of local Brooklynites in the anti-slavery movement. The top floor rotates more frequently showcasing the work of local Brooklyn artists. The Othmer Library with it’s tall wooden book shelves, long hard oak reading tables and ornate furnishings, houses an impressive collection of books and documents on Brooklyn. The society also holds talks, book launches, movie screenings and even debates on who has the most authentic Pizza in Brooklyn.
