Koreatown
Dan Sung Sa
Some restaurants, the moment you walk in, have a way of transporting you to another world - Dan Sung Sa is one such place. The painted exterior features a prominent mural of Kim Jong Il welcomes you, the Korean papers plastered on the walls will make it easy to imagine you're out in Seoul. It's THE classic late night spot (what with their flexible closing policy) to gorge yourself on izakaya-style small plates and throw back soju under dim lighting as you stare up at scrawled notes on the walls and plumes of smoke creeping in from the bbq at the center of the bar. Get cozied up with friends while you eat and drink (stand-out menu items include crispy fried chicken and rice cakes simmering in spicy broth) – you'll see many of their Korean late-night regulars crowded wooden booths doing the same.
