Koreatown

Koreatown is one of LA's most densely and diversely populated neighborhoods; historically home to mostly Korean and Latino immigrants whose cultural influence pervades the three-square mile, palm tree-lined expanse. After recovering from the LA riots in the '90s, K-town has become one of the city’s hippest areas thanks to its rich architectural heritage, exceptional eats and vibrant nightlife.

Shatto 39 Lanes is one of the few still-awesome bowling alleys around LA. Walk up a cascading flight of red metal stairs and suddenly you're back in '78... pins crashing, arcade games blaring, music on the loudspeaker and people generally having a pretty, pretty good time. If need a snack break between games, look no further than the dimly-lit bar and cafe, where you can re-charge washing down the most basic of grilled cheeses with well drinks. Shatto offers a striking (puns!) 40 bowling lanes, a billiards parlor, foosball tables and two video game rooms, so there's something for everyone. Alright, alright, alright.
