Known as an historic, beachside resort town, SaMo has been home to surf and skate culture, healthy living and some of the most progressive attitudes in CA. Today, it’s been reborn as an important tech and cultural hub dubbed “Silicon Beach” where art, entertainment, fashion, food, old and new fuse into a beachy-meets-metropolitan vibe.

“No Kooks!” is surfer slang that means “locals only, bro!” and the first thing you’ll read upon entering. Don’t be intimidated, that’s just part of the charm. Their mission, beyond serving organic micro-roasted coffees, great sandwiches and all-day breakfast, is to preserve the history of the neighborhood’s surf and skate culture. After all, they’re located in the iconic 1970’s Zephyr Surfboard building that bore the terms “Dogtown” and “Z-Boys”.
