Lake Street, stretching from Lake Calhoun all the way to St. Paul, is an eclectic showcase of the broad range of communities that call South Minneapolis home. Hennepin Avenue and Lyndale Avenue form the heart of Uptown, bustling on evenings and weekends with young people enjoying the neighborhood for its chic restaurants, trendy retail stores, nightlife, and entertainment. Powderhorn is a laid-back and vibrantly creative neighborhood known for its community-oriented and diverse residents, boasts the city’s largest concentration of Latin@ and Northeast African restaurants and businesses, and has family-run markets, pubs, barbershops, and community centers sprinkled amid the brightly-painted houses of its residential streets.
