Bernal Heights & La Lengua
- by
- Strohl
Perched atop a steep hill at the southern edge of the city, Bernal Heights is a last frontier for artists and progressives. Nestled between earthquake cottages and bungalows you’ll find picturesque parks, quaint shops, and most importantly, a sense of community long forgotten in San Francisco. Along with its little sister La Lengua to the west, our neighborhood is unapologetically unique.

Esmeralda Slides
*Ok, these slides aren’t exactly a secret, but they are hard to find if you don’t know what you are looking for. Nestled next to the Esmerelda steps on one of the steepest inclines in Bernal, this is a gem of a spot. They are at times a little scary fast (especially for the little ones), but it's worth it if you are going to spend the day on the hill. Make sure to bring some cardboard (and take it with you when you leave), or you’ll hear an earful from the neighbors.
