Ukrainian Village
This historic district is home to both old and new — century-old cathedrals share real estate with trendy cafes. As the traditionally working-class Eastern European enclave draws in younger residents, with it comes creativity in the form of forward-thinking restaurants, innovative cocktail bars and specialty boutiques. But that's not all there is — the spirit of Ukrainian Village endures through its welcoming accessibility.

We love The Winchester for any occasion, plain and simple. Its airy Scandanavian aesthetic makes it a no-brainer for mid-week coffee meetings and its stellar kitchen puts their own seasonal stamp on breakfast, lunch and dinner. And don’t even get us started on weekend brunch. Their simple bar is neatly stocked for subtly complex cocktails (such as the Skippin’ Town: mezcal, Cocchi Americano, lemon, pineapple syrup, Ancho Reyes) – but no one will raise an eyebrow if you opt for rosé instead. We’ve even been known to pop in simply for one of their Leige waffles. Given a yeasty overnight rise and dusting of pearlized sugar, they’re more cookie than waffle – and as craveable as The Winchester itself.
