Ukrainian Village
This historic district is home to both old and new — century-old cathedrals share real estate with trendy cafes. As the traditionally working-class Eastern European enclave draws in younger residents, with it comes creativity in the form of forward-thinking restaurants, innovative cocktail bars and specialty boutiques. But that's not all there is — the spirit of Ukrainian Village endures through its welcoming accessibility.

For better or for worse, Tuman’s is no longer the sentimental dive bar it was prior to 2003. When it closed it lost its portentous ‘Alcohol Abuse Center’ sign, underwent a number of renovations, and depending who you talk to, lost its character. We were 16 when that happened. As it stands, we’re more than happy to have an easy place to grab a beer (off of one of 28 ever-changing draft lines), throw down on some gastropubby food (custom-ground Slagel Family Farm beef burger with a shallot-port reduction) and play a little shuffleboard.
