Greater Sharpstown
Greater Sharpstown encompasses an area of approximately 10 square miles; bounded by the Westpark Tollway to the north, 59 and Bissonnet to the south, Beltway 8 to the west, and Hillcroft to the east. For us, it's pretty much about the rich food scene. Generally speaking, you will find predominantly South Asian establishments near Hillcroft and 59, where a bronze Ghandi monument marks the entrance to the newly established Mahatma Ghandi district. As you head further west through the district you head east on your culinary adventure. Running for miles along Bellaire Boulevard is Chinatown which boasts hundreds of restaurants and shopping malls frequented by people of different ethnicities. We approached the task of documenting this neighborhood with great zeal but were soon daunted by the dizzying array of options. Our list is only the tip of the iceberg, there is simply so much to discover in this thriving international community.

Family owned and operated SW Trading is a bauble hunter's paradise. Behind the modest storefront lies an accessories superstore exploding with wall to wall sparkle. An enormous selection of earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces and anklets beckon to those who appreciate a true bargain. The jewelry is the star here, other accessories such as luggage, handbags, hats and scarves are fun to browse — we smiled at handbags displaying actual metal Cadillac emblems — but aren't the real draw. With over 65,000 items in stock this is the largest of their 4 Harwin locations.
