Brunswik
The name 'Brunswik' emerged in 1350 for the first time and is assumed to be older than the City of Kiel itself. 1869 it was suburbanized to Kiel, including the areas Blücherplatz, Düsternbrook and the adjacent district Ravensberg. Today Brunswik is – next to the city center – the most favorite shopping area and houses many cultural, academic or medical facilities as well as several ancient monuments.

Built in 1907 the Schauspielhaus Kiel provides room for 400 viewers and possesses excellent stage craft and acoustic. The Schauspielhaus is one section of the Theater Kiel, which includes opera, musicals, ballet, plays for both adults and children. Especially the more experimental pieces from 'Reihe 17' are recommendable, since the actors are staging the plays in the foyer in the midst of the audience. Tuesday to Friday: 10am – 7pm Saturday: 10am – 1pm
