West LA
If you had a Venn diagram of Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, Westwood, and Mid-city LA, the overlapping portion right at the center would be West LA. This neighborhood has an ever-increasing list of hip and trendy offerings while continuing to maintain many of the classic establishments that have made it a destination for over half a century. Because of its central location amid so many iconic LA neighborhoods, West LA benefits from the spilling over of influences from its various neighbors without succumbing to the stigma of hype that has engulfed so many desirable areas of Los Angeles.

This is an all around great Sushi place, but the thing that makes it extra special is that they have not one, but TWO happy hours! Even when it’s not happy hour here though, the place is very affordable. What sets this place apart from other Sushi joints is the oysters ($1 during Happy Hour) and Yakatori, which is Japanese style grilled chicken on a skewer. It can be a bit crowded for the early happy hour, but the later one (10pm to close) crowding is not an issue.
