An oasis in the middle of the city. Carlton Gardens is World Heritage listed and home to Melbourne Museum and the infamous Royal Exhibition Building, as well as ducks, possums and birds. The size of a small suburb itself with large lawn spaces, basketball courts, tennis courts, ornamental lakes, water fountains and lovely Moreton Bay fig trees - it's the perfect place to go to chill or picnic with friends. If you find yourself there late into the night, beware of the water sprinklers. Those lawns aren't vibrant green all year 'round on the account of rain...you may find yourself in a slightly soggy situation (so we hear).
