The Dutch aren’t famous for their food, but one thing is definitely worth trying, the ‘Kroket’. A croquette is made of meat ragout covered in breadcrumbs and then deep fried. You can get croquettes throughout the city, but the best can be found at van Dobben. You'll find no exuberant decoration here because the croquette is all that matters. Order a croquette on a bun with mustard and a glass of milk, like all the inhabitants of Amsterdam do.
