The Big Five
Nineteen Containers Ready to Roll
What's going to happen to the pavilions built for Expo? This is one of the recurring questions we hear every day and which the Principality of Monaco has been prepared for since the start. That's right, because the nineteen containers used to build the pavilion will have a second life. A recovery idea fused with the concept of the “grand voyage” (in our case as far as Burkina Faso), a country where the whole structure will end up to become a headquarters for the Red Cross. In short, a fascinating and ingenious project (the designer is [Enrico Pollini](http://inhabitat.com/monaco-brings-repurposed-freight-containers-and-vertical-gardens-to-expo-milan-2015/)), that is also a little unexpected (commercial containers are not the first thing to spring to mind when we say: “Montecarlo”). In the meantime we've brought ourselves up to date thanks to the [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/pavillonmonaco/videos/vb.286356024882596/417473585104172/?type=2&theater) page: between a glass of champagne and a [barbagiuan](http://worldrecipes.expo2015.org/it/ricetta-barbagiuan_12369.html) with Parmesan cheese and some Bresaola, we savor the fantastic view from the terrace. An interesting crossover between the commercial containers and the Monaco lifestyle can be recognized in the fittings of the terrace and the countless details (above all, the uniforms of the hostesses and stewards). Recycling design, starting from the luxurious. It doesn't happen often!
